 The suffering of the Uyghur people has been formally recognised as a genocide by the US, Canadian, and Dutch governments.

Millions of Uyghurs have been rounded up in the vast network of concentration camps in China, with the clear purpose of destroying Uyghur language & culture.

We can’t let this happen.

We have a team of 10+ educators, designers, and Uyghur language experts developing a comprehensive Uyghur language learning curriculum. 

It is specifically created as material for Uyghur teachers and parents in the diaspora to teach their children the Uyghur language.

Uyghur is a Turkic language that has had some influence from Arabic, Persian and Russian. 

It sounds very similar to Uzbek and can be partly understood by Turkish speakers. 

The traditional script uses a Perso-Arabic alphabet (we’ve got more letters!), which our curriculum materials will be using. We also have a latinised script.

The Uyghur language curriculum we are developing will be covering school students from grades 1-10, with 3 books per grade: 1 textbook and 2 exercise books. Our materials will be developed for 5-15 year olds.

Our goal is to publish the first 5 grades and distribute to at least 5 Uyghur schools by 2022.

In order to publish one book, it takes £40. This includes printing, content development, design, editing, and illustration work. Our goal is to distribute 750 books, inshaAllah, to start with.
