Purpose: To reach out to representatives of the House (in the US) and ask them to pass the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019 - H.R.649

Method: Fill out postcards with this message and get people from all over the US to send the postcard to their representative. This brings awareness to the situation and shows representatives that their constituents care about the issue.

Result: The postcards, numerous phone calls, leg work from activists, and news articles such as the leak reported by the New York Times, resulted in a 407:1 vote of YES in the House of Representatives! Well done! See here for more information about the bill: summary, congress website

Next steps: This Bill now needs to pass Senate - S.178. Although S.178 had already been passed in September 2019, the bill that passed in the House was a revised version; therefore, S.178 needs to be passed in the Senate again. Update: The Bill has passed both House and Senate, and will now just need to be signed by the president!
